Boutique offers in-town bargain clothes shopping

Maricopa’s only secondhand ladies clothing store might also be one of the city’s best-kept secrets.

Housed on the second floor of The Old Stage Stop off of North John Wayne Parkway, the Bargain Corner Boutique is bursting with new and gently used clothes and fashion accessories from several well-known designers.

Owners Nancy Marrs and her mother, Barbara Knight, originally opened the store in October 2006. At that time, they leased a house south of Hidden Valley in which they stored designer clothes, furniture, and antiques. When the owners of the house decided to sell it in September 2007, Marrs and Knight moved to the Stage Stop, just north of the railroad tracks.

It seems this store is perfect for the owners, who get to share in the joy that their customers experience when finding bargains. Marrs said her favorite part of the job is, “Meeting new people and seeing the look on their face when they get a great deal.”

Maricopa’ s shopaholics might be pleased to know that the Bargain Corner appears to be here to stay. Marrs says she enjoys the small community feel of Maricopa, to which she is no stranger.

The longtime resident said in five years she still plans to be “Right here in Maricopa.” She added that her hope is to eventually have a location large enough to sell furniture and antiques once again, in addition to designer clothes and accessories.
