Last week Maricopa High School students showed a wide range of talent in the first-ever MHS Talent Show.

Performers in over 20 separate acts sang, told jokes, danced and played music to an audience of about 350 family members, friends, teachers and fellow students at the high school’s football stadium on Friday evening.

Master of ceremonies for the event was D.J. James, who introduced each act and its individual, duo or group of performers.

Culinary arts instructor Nick Lopez organized the show with the help of juniors and seniors from the school’s Link Crew service organization.

Dancing their way to first place were members of ‘The Battle.’ The group of breakdancers included Patrick Jackson, Tikki Rosamond, David Angkham, Aldrich Dabu, Oscar Romo, Issam Ghannam and Joseph Robles. For taking first place, they received 10 tickets to a Suns basketball game and the opportunity to meet the players before the game plus a $50 gift card.

“The show was spectacular,” said Lopez. “We had a great time, and I can’t wait for next year.”
