Celebrate Life Family Support Center holding benefit yard sale Saturday

Celebrate Life Family Support Center will hold its benefit yard sale Saturday, March 13, beginning at 7 a.m.

A ministry of First Baptist Church Maricopa, the center, staffed by Director Lucy Kelly and volunteer counselors, is open every Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

All volunteer counselors go through a 23-hour training course in child development and communication to enable them to assist clients with finding community resources, including food, shelter, physicians, churches and childbirth classes. Additionally, they offer free pregnancy testing and parenting classes. Information on STDs and life-affirming choices is available in both English and Spanish.

The center’s staff works diligently to raise funds and find donations. Items like baby bottles, diapers, maternity and baby clothes, baby food and baby furniture are always needed.

Saturday’s sale, in the church parking lot, will start at 7 a.m. and run until noon.

According to Kelly, there will be men’s, women’s, children’s and babies’ clothing, household items, books, stuffed animals and many miscellaneous items as well. “We also have TVs, microwaves, furniture items like night stands, and a gently used Kenmore washer and dryer,” said Kelly.

Fundraising is an ongoing effort, but, according to Kelly, “Our real goal is to provide honest, truthful information in order for young women to make healthy life choices for themselves and their babies.”
