With tough words like aloha and pistachio, it is no wonder 10-year old Christopher Simpson is the spelling bee champion.
Christopher was named the spelling champion of Maricopa Elementary School when he defeated 19 other kids Friday afternoon.
“It feels good to win,” Christopher said.
As the champion of MES, Christopher will represent the school when the district spelling finals take place Dec. 11 at Maricopa Wells Middle School.
“I am excited to move on,” Christopher said.
Christopher wasn’t the only one excited. His mother said she was happy for her child.
As the winner of the spelling bee, Christopher was awarded with a trophy for his championship efforts.
