City Council meetings more accessible, thanks to television

Maricopa citizens no longer need to leave home to be among those in the know regarding city business.

That’s because Orbitel Communications at 7 p.m. Tuesday will begin broadcasting live coverage of Maricopa City Council meetings on Orbitel channel 20. The meetings will be broadcast at the same time on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Maricopa residents who are unable to tune in to the live broadcast can watch prerecorded City Council meetings on the government station at the following days and times:

10 a.m. Monday
6 p.m. Wednesday
8 a.m. Thursday
9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday
1 p.m. Sunday

“It is important to offer as many opportunities as we can to allow our citizens to participate in their local government,” Mayor Kelly Anderson said. “Broadcasting City Council meetings is one of the several methods used to provide information to the community.”
