City Council to review acting city manager agreement

    219

When they convene Tuesday evening for their council session, City Council will review an agreement that is set to take effect Aug. 21 involving the city manager’s position.

The City is looking to temporarily employ Mike Hutchinson as acting city manager while current Interim City Manager Roger Kolman is in China adopting a child. Hutchinson is the former city manager of Mesa.

The agreement will terminate on or before Sept. 10 unless the parties agree in writing to extend the deal. Nothing in the agreement shall prevent, limit or otherwise interfere with the right of the City to terminate the services of Hutchinson at any time. Hutchinson also has the right to terminate the agreement with the City.

The City will pay Hutchinson, a Mesa resident, “for his services rendered pursuant hereto in an amount not to exceed $6,000 payable upon remittance of a duly executed invoice following the last day of service.”

During the term of the agreement, Hutchinson agrees to work around 80 hours at City Hall or attending City meetings or other City functions.

Editor’s note: City Council on Aug. 21 approved Hutchinson as acting city manager while Kolman is out of the country on personal business.
