Traveling this spring or summer? Whether you are going by land, sea or air, U.S. citizens are required to have and present a passport book, passport card or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.
The city of Maricopa will be hosting a Passport Fair on Saturday, March 27, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications.
The city is joining the Department of State in celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2010, a national passport acceptance and outreach event.
To apply for a passport or passport card, individuals need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship and a valid form of photo identification. You will also need two passport-sized photos of yourself, which can be taken at city hall for an additional fee. Please note that a passport card cannot be used for air travel, only for driving.
U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.
Information on the cost and how to apply for a U.S. passport is available at www.travel.state.gov. U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information, in English and Spanish by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778.
