The winter 2008 edition of The Activator, Maricopa’s Parks and Recreation program schedule, will be delivered to every household in Maricopa during the week of Dec. 8. It is also currently available on the city’s Website.

“With help from our residents, the city has been able to offer new classes for different types of interests and ages,” commented Recreation Coordinator Maria Billingsley. “These new classes, plus our regular programs, are a great way to get the community together, which follows our motto: “Creating Community through People, Parks, and Programs.”

Last fall, residents lined up as early as 6:30 a.m. to secure a spot in some of the more popular programs, such as youth dance or tiny tot sports. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at City Hall, 45145 West Madison Avenue. Residents are encouraged to register early for programs because classes fill up quickly. Currently, the City of Maricopa will only accept cash, check or money order for payment. For more information, please call (520) 316-6962.

Drop and Shop childcare

On Dec. 6, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the City of Maricopa’s Parks and Recreation Division offers the Drop and Shop program for local residents. Drop and Shop provides a safe environment for children so that parents can have a few hours to shop. Children will play games, participate in activities and get a snack during the event.

Register at City Hall, 45145 W. Madison Ave. For more information, contact Maria Billingsley at (520) 316-6962.
