The eegee’s restaurant planned for Maricopa will be a 2,300 square foot, single-story, ground-up prototype eegee’s-branded restaurant with indoor seating and a drive-thru lane, according to pre-application documents submitted to the city.

The restaurant will sit on what currently is an unimproved .8-acre parcel just south of the southeast corner of John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road. The documents filed with the city state that eegee’s is interested in that location because it will be an asset to the city by developing a currently vacant parcel in the city’s core.

Eegee’s originated in Tucson 51 years ago and has become a fixture in the local communities of southern Arizona, where the bulk of its 30 stores are located. According to the narrative, the company’s philosophy is to place eegee’s restaurants in high growth residential areas, where it can serve a wide variety of customers.

“We are excited to deliver a one-of-a-kind restaurant experience to the City of Maricopa and the surrounding communities,” Holly Reading Keilman, eegee’s Director of Development said in the company’s pre-application narrative.

Eegee’s unique menu and positioning in the marketplace have helped it carve out its own niche in the industry and win many awards, including being voted the number one fast food restaurant in Arizona by Food & Wine Magazine and being recognized by BuzzFeed as having the number one desert drink in Arizona and voted best quick serve restaurant in Tucson for 2020.

Eegee’s will be open every day from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.

The company gets heavily involved in the communities where its restaurants are located and annually sells a coupon book from which 100% of proceeds are donated to a local charity. This has generated more than $3 million in contributions to local charities in the past decade.

A typical eegee’s creates approximately 40 jobs.
