A barbeque joint closed one of its two Maricopa shops after nearly seven years in business.

A note on the door of Dickey’s Barbeque Pit, 20924 N. John Wayne Pkwy, reads: “CLOSED by order of the Director of The Pinal County Public Health Services District.”

According to a Pinal County Environmental Services spokesperson, the owner decided not to renew the permit for the John Wayne Parkway location. He said Dickey’s Walmart location has a different permit and remains open.

“You don’t want to talk to me about that,” said Lewis Green, owner of the two Dickey’s.

Green refused to answer further questions.

  1. I can’t say I’m surprised it closed, the c/s had been awful for a while. There were always out of everything. We lost $ to them not reversing a charge card payment for an order that was cancelled.
I find the actual reason for closing (for not renewing the permit) and that the owner won’t answer questions, very interesting.
