City election results certified

The results of last week’s city primary election were certified Tuesday by the Maricopa City Council by a unanimous vote and now stand as the official results.

The total number of ballots cast was 4,260, an increase of more than 1,392 ballots from the 2010 municipal election. In that primary, 2,868 ballots were cast.

The votes cast for the mayoral contest:

Christian Price, 2,574
Carl Diedrich, 1,620

The votes cast for the city council, where three seats were open:

Bridger Kimball, 2,795
Leon Potter, 2,513
Marvin L. Brown (incumbant) 2,384
Rosalin Sanchez Sanhadja, 1,794
Thomas Candelaria, 41 (write-in)
