Donaldson wins section’s Offensive Player of the Year; 9 other Rams honored

Maricopa Rams senior wide receiver Elisha Donaldson was named 1st Team All Section and Offensive Player of the Year for Division III Section 5 Wednesday, according to Maricopa Unified School District.

"I am extremely proud of Elisha and all the other players who were recognized,” coach Chris McDonald said. “When I got the job, met the kids and watched them in action I knew we were not going to be short on skill. Elisha has all the tools to be a huge factor at the next level and someone is going to get a great weapon."

He was among 10 MHS varsity football players honored for their play this season:

• Elisha Donaldson, WR (senior) – 1st Team All Section, Offensive Player of the Year
• Johnny Johnson, WR, DB (junior) – 1st Team All Section (Defense), 1st Team All Section (Returner), 2nd Team All Section (Offense)
• Chad Cochran, OL (senior) – 1st Team All Section (Offense)
• Aaron Owens, QB, DB (junior) – 2nd Team All Section (Offense)
• Geovanni Walker, WR, DB (senior) – 2nd Team All Section (Offense), 2nd Team All Section (Defense)
• Kenny Ball, DL, OL (senior) – 2nd Team All Section (Defense)
• Christian Ramirez, P (senior) – 2nd Team All Section (Special Teams)
• Colby Baca, LB (senior) – Honorable Mention
• Isaiah Pedro, QB, DB (junior) – Honorable Mention
• Christian Ramirez, K (senior) – Honorable Mention

Maricopa finished the season 4-6 under McDonald, his first as a head coach.
