Maricopa High School showcased its students, staff and programs Thursday evening in an Exhibition of Excellence.

All departments were well represented, and the campus was crowded with students, their siblings and parents who came to see the results of this year’s academic, fine arts and sports programs under the direction of Principal Burnie Hibbard.

The Fine Arts Department was represented by the concert band, various choral groups, art, drama and dance classes. Next year the department will expand its offerings to include ceramics, jewelry making, music theory and additional dance classes.

Students participated in the ropes course, harnessing themselves for some spectacular above ground feats.

Sports and physical education classes demonstrated volleyball, pickle ball, weightlifting and basketball skills.

The Language Arts Department, working from the “Great Hall of Humanities” offered history and language arts quizzes.

A Math Jeopardy competition, with both student and parent participants, took place in one classroom while in other rooms science exhibits were set up.

Culinary Arts students offered cookies and punch, the PTO provided water bottles and Student Council grilled free hot dogs on site.

Thursday’s two-hour event provided the opportunity to see what Maricopa High School students are doing and learning, a real exhibition of their excellence.
