Family portraits help feed local families

57

On Nov. 22 The Duke hosted the first annual Family Portrait Day fundraiser for F.O.R. Maricopa, the local food bank.

Amy Jamieson Photography and SeedsMaricopa offered family portraits in exchange for a $25 donation to the food bank. Families participating were able to take advantage of high-end photography services while helping out those in need.

In addition, SeedsMaricopa hosted a bake sale with homemade baked goods, such as cinnamon rolls, pies, breads, cookies and rice crispy treats.

Area businesses also contributed to the fundraising effort by donating hundreds of dollars in gift certificates and prizes to be raffled off, including gift certificates for housecleaning, pedicures, facials, photo shoots, dinner out with the family, dessert and more.

Through these fundraising efforts, SeedsMaricopa, Jamieson and The Duke were able to raise $1,500 to give to the food bank. Due to the success and popularity of the project, Maricopa locals can expect to be able to take advantage of this opportunity again next year.
