Garcia: Campos under investigation for misuse of public money and clean elections violations

Campos says he wants to get his hands on the state budget, but he’s being investigated for paying himself public money.

Campos says he wants to be a lawmaker, but he’s currently being investigated for breaking the law.

Curious? Here are a few facts:

On October 23 the Citizens Clean Elections Commission held a meeting to determine if Andre Campos violated campaign finance laws.

Why? Because Campos paid his personal LLC a check for 95 percent of the clean elections money given to him, nearly $13,000 of public money. He provided no, as in zero, detailed information as to where the money was actually/supposedly spent. Such details are required by law.

Todd Lang, the Executive Director of Clean Elections issued a “Statement of Reasons,” No. 08-0029, showing they have reason to believe violations by Campos have occurred.

Clean Elections violations are serious and have resulted in previous offenders being given prison time (for example Yuri Downing-Libertarian who ran for AZ State Senate in 2002) and being removed from office (for example former AZ State Representative David Burnell Smith-Republican in 2005).

The Republicans’ motto is “Let’s clean up corruption in Pinal County. . . Vote Republican.” Is this their answer?

Again, I have to ask is Campos the type of person that we want representing us? Is his face truly the face of Pinal County that we want to be associated with?

Simply put, Pinal County doesn’t need the types of scandals Campos is bringing with him.
