Glennwilde child in Baby Idol contest

Maricopa resident Brandi Smyer is used to being awakened at 5 a.m. each day as her husband prepares for work and the radio blasts classic hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

However, this past weekend it wasn’t the tunes on the radio that caught her attention, but an advertisement for Baby Idol.

“I heard the ad, and I thought ‘my kid’s cute, I should enter her,’” Smyer said.

Luckily for Smyer the deadline to enter the contest, which awards the cutest baby $2,000, didn’t expire until that Monday.

She hopes the luck can continue.

“We are struggling like most other families. I think it would be great to win this contest so we could put some money in savings for my daughter and throw her a party,” she said.

To win the contest the Glennwilde resident will need more than just luck, she will need votes. From now until July 12 those interested will be able to log onto the 96.9 website and vote for their favorite baby.

The top 200 will move on to the next round of web voting, with a final winner eventually being named August 9.
