The five-story hotel tower at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Resort is now open for guests.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community’s $20 million project offers 152 new rooms, including five suites, bringing the total number of guest rooms to 300.

A grand opening was held Friday at the casino that was attended by local business people, Harrah’s executives and staff and tribal leaders.

Chairman Louis Manuel thanked the tribe’s cultural council for their approval of the project.

“Change is always something that is going to happen,” he said. “Our foundation is in farming.”

Each room in the five-story tower will include upgraded amenities such as granite countertops, 42-inch flat screen televisions in the standard rooms and 50-inch flat screen televisions in each of the five suites, centralized media/technology hubs and bigger showers.

“We are very fortunate that our hotel is always full,” said General Manager Robert Livingston. “By adding these 152 rooms, we will be able to welcome more Harrah’s guests to enjoy the warm hospitality we provide.”

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Resort has lush greenery, a courtyard, a swimming pool and swim-up bar. The 40,000-square-foot casino has a selection of reel and video slots, video poker, table games from blackjack to bingo to poker.
