Sonic drive-in restaurant and Saddleback Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization kick off a fundraising event to benefit the school from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow.

The drive-in is at 21470 N. John Wayne Parkway,

The school will receive 40% of the sales during that period and flyers must be shown to carhops to be eligible.

Mishell Terry, Maricopa Unified School District spokesperson, said the proceeds will help pay for prizes for the school’s Read-A-Thon starting April 1. The event incentivizes students to continue reading during state testing, offering daily raffles, gift cards and a limousine ride for top fundraisers, Terry said.

The primary purpose is to support student enrichment activities such as field trips, assemblies and an end-of-the-year Water Day event, she said.
