Construction is under way on Maricopa’s latest house of worship, a Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall.

A project narrative that Jehovah’s Witnesses representatives filed with City of Maricopa planners states the organization is building a 3,225-square-foot single-story structure with an auditorium, meeting room, multi-purposed room and associated auxiliary spaces on a lot at 40559 W. Honeycutt Road.

The building will be situated to the northeast of the site with 54 parking spaces to the west of the facility.

“Up to four congregations may use a Kingdom Hall facility,” the Jehovah’s Witnesses narrative states. “Currently, only two congregations are being planned to meet at this location. Each congregation will generally consist of 90-120 persons attending the weekly Bible meetings.”

Each congregation meets twice a week— once during the week in the evening hours and once on the weekend, typically Sunday morning-early afternoon. In addition to two weekly meetings, small groups gather at the hall on a daily basis prior to heading out to participate in the field ministry.

Landscaping will be provided throughout the site in accordance with Maricopa Zoning Ordinance requirements. The site will retain on-site and off-site stormwater.

The Kingdom Hall will have a driveway entrance into the north of the property off West Honeycutt

Retention basins are designed such that they appear natural and integrated with the architectural elements of the site. Screened walls coordinating with the new building will be integrated throughout the site to conceal exterior equipment, the narrative states.
