If you saw an alpaca roaming around the Homestead North neighborhood this morning, it was no happy hallucination.

Facebook was abuzz with Homestead North residents talking about a wayward alpaca.

They said Jesse is his name. Roaming the hood is his game.

You could say he was on the llama, er, lam. Or better yet, he attempted to alpaca his long blonde fleece and hoof it out of Alpacacopa.

A reporter’s call to the Homestead North Homeowners Association for details on the whereabouts of Jesse the errant alpaca was met with loud laughter.

Several Facebook neighbors said Jesse can often be spotted around the lake in the neighborhood and is owned by a resident there.

A Maricopa police officer helped the owners apprehend Jesse before noon today.

“Our officer’s priority was to make sure everyone was safe and ensure the alpaca wasn’t in the roadway,” said MPD spokesperson Monica Williams.
