Kidnapped woman jumped out of moving car: Cops

A man accused of kidnapping his girlfriend in Tempe was arrested after she threw herself out of a moving car in Maricopa Saturday.

At about 11:20 a.m., 32-year-old Christopher Matuz reportedly kidnapped his girlfriend from her job near 48th Street and Southern Avenue in Tempe, according to Tempe Police Department.

Matuz reportedly beat his girlfriend in the car and forced her to stay in the car as they drove to Maricopa.

The woman jumped out of the moving car near North John Wayne Parkway and West Smith-Enke Road, fled to a nearby business and dialed 9-1-1. Matuz reportedly left the area in his girlfriend’s car.

Tempe police arrested Matuz the next day and booked him on charges of kidnapping, assault, threatening and intimidating.
