“Baseball is as American as apple pie.” If this phrase holds true then Little League baseball is the ice cream that goes on top. On Saturday, hundreds of young Little Leaguers and their famiies came out to Pacana Park for opening day.

Little League president Chris Turpen was ecstatic about how the day started and the turnout. “Just seeing all the families and kids out here on a beautiful day, it’s just awesome.” Turpen said. ”It makes all the hard work from all the volunteers worth it.”

The teams played the entire day, from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. “If we could play until midnight, we would,” Turpen said. “Unfortunately they turn off the lights at 10.”
