Treats, activities and displays were in abundance at last Saturday’s Kids Oktoberfest sponsored by Desert Sun Performing Arts, Desert Star Gymnastics and the MOM’s Club of Maricopa-Cruz.

The event, held at Stagestop Marketplace, raised almost a thousand dollars to purchase equipment for the middle school special education department.

Local organizations and businesses participated in the event by providing various activities and foods, including the MOM’s Club-Pima Butte who had a bake sale while the Maricopa Trailblazers entertained the kids with a duck game.

Straight to the Plate Catering supplied cookie and chef hat decorating while advertising their Junior Chef Parties.

Sonic provided root beer floats and had their mascot on hand to greet people and take pictures with them.

Crum Party and Play Jumpers supplied two bouncers for kids to have fun in.

Other vendors included Amy Jamieson Photography, Dr. Karen Kramarczyk Family Dentistry, Abundant Hope Counseling, H.O.P.E (Helping Others with Positive Experiences), Cookie Lee Jewelry, OLC School for the arts, Keller Williams, Oasis Life Church and Transcend Broadband.

When asked what she thought about the turnout, event sponsor Amy Brattlie said, “I am glad it’s going as well as it is.”

Ceylan Gentilella of Desert Sun Performing Arts was pleased that they made about as much money as last year for the special education students.
