Kids ‘wowed’ by award-winning author

“Mom, can we go to the library?” This phrase was one repeated many times this weekend as evidenced by the large turnout for a special appearance by award-winning children’s author Conrad Storad at the Maricopa Public Library. The day was filled with educational fun for Maricopa’s youth.

The Saturday event, sponsored by Friends of the Maricopa Library, is the first in a series of special engagements by authors sharing their work with the community.

“The Friends of the Maricopa Public Library are so excited and honored to have Mr. Storad kick off our visiting author series,” said Stephanie Palmer, events chairman.

Storad has written many books for both children and young adults and recently retired as a magazine editor at Arizona State University.

Storad’s visit to the library included multiple presentations for children from pre-school through sixth grade. He also conducted a 90-minute writers’ workshop – “Writing Non Fiction for Young Readers.” Watch video highlights from the appearance below.
