121

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20565 N. D.R.Horton Drive, is hosting its first annual Community Christmas Carol on Saturday Dec. 13, 2008, at 6 p.m.

This annual event will showcase musical performances by members of the Maricopa area community for the enjoyment of all residents.

Free and open to the public, the event is focusing on bringing the Christmas spirit to Maricopa. Light refreshments will be served during the event, and the LDS Church will distribute a free DVD entitled “Joy to the World,” featuring music by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and scenes of the Nativity, to those interested.

According to event organizer Tavia Olsen, the church hopes the event will be so memorable that it will become an annual tradition for Maricopa.

Because of the sacredness of this celebration and the location in which it will be held, during the event the following will be prohibited: smoking, photography and video cameras.
