The Vex IQ Robotics Team 5236E at Leading Edge Academy Maricopa made Leading Edge Academy school and district history by being the first team to qualify for the World Championship Tournament.

The Vex IQ World Championship Tournament will be April 22-25 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Team 5236E double qualified for the state tournament by taking first place in teamwork at two different tournaments in the year. The team practiced weekly in order to synchronize their movements and increase their scores preparing for the state tournament at Microchip on Saturday.

After having an average score of 110.67, they took second place with a score of 126.

Team 5236 E, consists of three sixth graders and one seventh grader: Erik Shumacher, James Scofield, Jesus Fierro and Kemoni Pene. They are currently raising money in order to fund their way to the Vex IQ World Tournament.
