Local photographer offering new set of classes

Following the enrollment success of this summer’s Picture Perfect photography classes, Jake Johnson of Jake Johnson Pictures is again offering that course, plus an additional class on shooting candids and a ‘Go Pro’ three-class course.

Students in the first Picture Perfect session commented on the classes. “I took this class as ‘refresher course’ in non-auto use of my camera and to learn more about non-flash photography. I feel I got more out of this class than the one I took at a university,” said Evelyn Fuller.

Shannon Williams added, “Jake goes about teaching in an easy and approachable manner. He’d come over to help us one on one. He’s genuinely interested in improving my photography skills.”

The three Picture Perfect classes cover exposure (Oct. 7), lighting (Oct. 14) and Photoshop elements (Oct. 21). Each session is scheduled for 5:45-7:45 p.m. at a location to be determined. The cost for all three classes is $80, or $30 per class if taking individually, with payment due at the first class attended. Returning students can take the classes for $20 each.

“I got a lot out of the photo classes. I have a lot to learn but now have a guideline to further improve,” said Jackie Root. “I would highly recommend to anyone that has an interest in photography to take the class; photos are a lifetime treasure!”

Johnson will also offer a class on shooting candid photos. This class will be held Oct. 10 from 9-11:30 a.m. Cost is $35 or $25 for returning students. Click here for class details.

“Every class is designed to bring you to a new level,” said Johnson. To that end he will soon be offering a series of three ‘Go Pro’ classes, covering use of natural light, professional flash techniques and advanced Photoshop use. Models will be provided for the course, which is $160 or $60 per class if taken individually (returning students pay $50 per class). Locations, dates and times will be announced.

“Classes are open to any age, and you don’t need a fancy camera,” said Johnson.

Prospective students and area residents interested in finding out more about the classes can meet Johnson on Oct. 5 (see below); he can also be contacted at 602-291-1093 or via e-mail at [email protected].
