Torri Anderson, a Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board member for 15 years, will not seek another term in office.

Anderson made her announcement at last night’s school board meeting.

“It’s been 15 years and I needed to retire,” she told InMaricopa after her announcement. “I’m looking at 65 [years old] and I need to slow down.”

She said she wants more family time.

Anderson encouraged others to run for her board seat.

“I’m ready for someone else to step up,” she said.

She will finish her term at the end of this year.
