Maricopa Police Department arrested a man accused of telling his stepson he would “put a hole in him” while holding a gun Saturday night.

Police arrested 47-year-old Shawan Harris after officers found the gun hidden under the couch, according to a probable cause statement.

Officers were dispatched at about 9 p.m. to a home on West Cowpath Road in Senita with a report that Harris was threatening his stepson with a gun.

Police arrived at the home and spoke with Harris’ stepson, who told officers Harris did not point the gun at him but threatened to “put a hole in him” while holding the firearm. He later told police he walked into Harris’ room with a weight.

Harris told police his stepson came into his room holding a five-pound weight, yelling at him, according to police documents. He told officers he felt threatened and told his stepson he was going “to put a hole in him” with a knife “by poking him.” He denied ever holding a firearm.

The alleged victim provided officers with a video that showed Harris holding a gun. When officers showed Harris the video and asked where the gun was, he said it was put away.

Harris’ wife consented to a search of the room he was in, and officers found it under the couch.

InMaricopa has previously reported on Harris’ alleged involvement in shots fired on his street. Police noted Harris recently had his rights restored.

Harris was booked into Pinal County jail on three misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, threatening and intimidating and false reporting. He faces a year and a half in jail.
