Maricopa police arrested a man for allegedly beating up another man he believed made advances towards his young daughter at her lemonade stand last weekend.
Cops arrested 35-year-old Martin Hernandez on charges of aggravated assault, threatening, criminal damage and disorderly conduct, according to a probable cause statement obtained by InMaricopa.
Just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a reported street fight on West San Alvarez Avenue in Tortosa. Hernandez denied the fight.
What he did tell the cops is that an adult neighbor tried to hug his daughter while she was holding a lemonade stand in their garage Saturday.
According to police, Hernandez drove to the neighbor’s house and attacked him, slapping him and stomping on his glasses. The neighbor put his hands up in surrender, got on his hands and knees and apologized profusely while Hernandez kicked him on the ground.
Witnesses said while the victim crawled away, Hernandez kept advancing on him, saying, “I could f*cking shoot you” and “I got a gun too” while using racial epithets aimed at Black people.
The neighbor said the request to hug the child was due to cultural differences as he recently moved to the U.S. from Africa.
I’m Martin Hernandez wife and your story is not accurate. It needs to be removed.
