Man wins top prize in NFL Pick ’em & Win contest

While many across Maricopa will be opening their wallets to splurge on Super Bowl party supplies, one man won’t have to drop a dime.

Grant Hanks is the winner of the 85239, Native New Yorker and Budweiser NFL Pick ’em & Win contest.

“It feels great,” Hanks said.

As the winner of the contest, Hanks will be treated to $700 worth of pizza, drinks and other food items from Native New Yorker for a Super Bowl party.

“I don’t drink beer, so they are trying to switch it out for soda,” Hanks said.

The grand-prize winner was determined by taking a player’s 12 highest-scoring weeks and adding them together.

Hanks’ combined score was 133, while the second-place winner, George Degler, scored 132 points and four people tied for third with 131 points.

“It was close and I am glad to be the winner,” Hanks said.

Hanks will host the party in two homes, his own and his brother-in-law’s house, which is next door.

“He has the big television, so we will have all of the serious football fans over there and everyone else will be in my house,” Hanks said.

Hanks added that he is expecting about 24 people for his party. Hanks is a Cowboys fan, but said he will be rooting for the Cardinals.

“We can’t let Pittsburgh have another title,” Hanks said.
