Maricopa businessman Hector Chaparo has merged video games, jerseys, shirts and shoes to form Game Spot, which opened Sept. 24 in the Stage Stop Marketplace on Maricopa-Casa Grande Hwy.

“There is such a great need for so many things in Maricopa, I thought this mixture would be a potent mix for success,” Chaparo said.

However, the store remains in a type of beta mode as Chaparo awaits what he hopes will be popular merchandise.”We hope to have jerseys for all the local teams and others within the next couple of weeks,” he said.

Other items Chaparo is waiting for include PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wi.

He added that his prices are very competitive and he strives to be less expensive than Walmart.

In addition to selling his stocked inventory, Chaparo also trades, purchases and repairs video games, iPods, computers, video games and other electronic devices.

“If you have a problem with something bring it in and I will give it a look,” he said.

Game Spot is not the first business venture for Chaparo, he also owns a similar operation in Phoenix and two women’s fashion stores, one in Maricopa and the other in Coolidge.

“I just lay in bed at night and I get all these ideas in my head for businesses,” he said.

Chaparo newest business venture currently is employing only one person, but he said he is hopeful that when word gets out about the store it will grow to the point he can eventually split it into two businesses; one focused on video games and the other on sporting apparel.
