Fun, food and information will all be part of the afternoon’s festivities when Maricopa Seniors, Inc. present the 2010 Home, Garden & Business Expo on Sunday, March 21, from 1 to 6 p.m. in Pacana Park.

The event will feature a Kids Zone with bouncers, games and activities; brief presentations on topics like vegetable gardening, Xeriscape, alternative energy sources; food and beverages sold by Boy Scout Troop 993 and the Maricopa High School culinary department; and over 80 vendors, crafters, and non-profit organizations offering a wide variety of items.

“We’ve got some great people participating,” said event organizer Therese Starkey, president of Maricopa Seniors, Inc. “This event will showcase Maricopa, as well as outside businesses, and it’s a great opportunity for folks to learn about some of the great services offered by our local and home-based businesses. We’ll have landscapers, carpeting and tile, painting, crafters, pools and spas, Direct TV, animal rescue and a whole lot more there. Bring the whole family because there’ll be something for everyone here!”

The event is also a fundraising opportunity for local non-profits: VFW, R.A.M. – Recycling Association of Maricopa, Copa Seniors and others. Maricopa Seniors will be selling tickets for their upcoming Senior Prom, as well as offering Infinity Cards at a nominal cost of $7 each.

“By using the Infinity Card, seniors get a discount on products or services. We’ve got a long list of local businesses who are partnering with us to offer discounts or other deals to our seniors,” Starkey said.
