Maricopa veterans have a new homepage.

What started as a Facebook group in 2018 has turned into an organization that fosters camaraderie, support and a sense of belonging for veterans in Maricopa. And now, the group has a spiffy new landing page.

Wheher you’re looking for veteran resources, events or a community, Maricopavets.org is the place to go.

Jason Martin, dubbed by some as “The Grand Poobah,” founded Maricopa Veterans as a Facebook group six years ago. It has attracted nearly 1,000 members since.

The group’s accessibility is why Martin decided to create a new homepage.

“Not all veterans are on Facebook,” Martin said.

Maricopavets.org was created by veteran Tyler Wall. It went live late last month.

The website offers veterans resources, showcases local veteran-owned businesses, has a calendar and includes a memorial page to remember the fallen.

Martin added plans to add a forum to the website are in the works.
