The Maricopa Historical Society, in conjunction with the Maricopa Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, will host a reception on Saturday, May 21, Armed Services Day, to commission the new military display at the Maricopa Public Library.

Speakers will include Maricopa Mayor Anthony Smith, Maricopa Historical Society President Patricia Brock, Maricopa American Legion Post 133 Commander and Councilwoman Julia Gusse and Maricopa VFW Post 12043 Cmdr. Jack McLain.

The veteran exhibit will showcase biographic profiles, artifacts and documents from Maricopa veterans, their military experience and military memorabilia. Some documents will be available for download at http://www.mhs50.com/Events.html

The showcase will open on Saturday and extend to August 20 at the Maricopa Public Library. The biographic profiles, artifacts and documents will be cycled from time to time to refresh the exhibit during the three-month period, so be sure to re-visit the library to see the updated displays.
