Maricopans asked to provide input on new library

Maricopa is getting a new library, and the Department of Community Services is looking for citizen input regarding the interior design of the library space.

The new library will be located on the north side of the intersection of Smith-Enke and Porter Roads and will include community space, increased computer terminals and youth and teen space.

Over the next few months 14,000 new items will be selected for the library, bringing the existing collection to a total of 32,000 items.

Citizens will be able to review initial drawings and provide input on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Global Water Center, 22590 N. Powers Parkway. Community Services Director Marty McDonald and representatives from Dick and Fritche will be available to answer questions.

Dick and Fritche Design Group from Phoenix, the architects, designed the new Queen Creek library and the Sunset branch of the Chandler Library.

“It is important for citizens to provide input about the library space while it is in its initial design phase,” Mayor Anthony Smith stated. “Feedback from the community is invaluable, and comments will be used as the architects move forward with the final design.”
