The Maricopa Master Gardeners will host two free classes along with their Fall Plant Sale Sept. 29.

The plant sale is 8 a.m. to noon. Plants available will include assorted fall vegetables, herbs, flowers, aloes, agaves, mesquite and Palo Verde trees, and Mexican terracotta pots.

Rose expert and Pima County master gardener, Lauren Kettlebach, will be coming from Tucson to speak about rose gardening in the desert. She will speak 8:30-10 a.m., and take questions.

Pinal County master gardener Jerry Walp will speak on fall vegetable gardening from 10:30 to noon. Walp is one of Maricopa’s most experienced gardeners. He has refined and perfected his gardening techniques with drip irrigation and mulch to get results even through the heat of the summer.

He will talk on how to plant your fall garden and will share his favorite vegetable varieties.

The demonstration garden will be open and master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

The plant sale, classes and demonstration garden are at the Maricopa Agricultural Center, 37860 W. Smith-Enke Road. More information is available by calling 520-568-2231 or 480-528-4276.
