Mayor to outline vision in State of the City address

Mayor Anthony Smith plans to examine where has Maricopa been, where is it going and how will it get there in his first State of the City address on Wednesday.

“I think it is time to report back to the citizens the state of Maricopa,” Smith said.

The mayor plans to use about a dozen charts showing trends in the city that include crime rates, foreclosure data, financial status and new-home permits.

“I am going to share the good news, the bad news and the real news,” Smith said.

The mayor will also outline the vision he and other council members have for the city and how they hope to achieve it through the implementation of a strategic plan. Smith said it is important to be upfront and clear with the people in the community on what city leaders want to do for Maricopa.

Smith said he anticipates his speech lasting about 45 minutes and he will not have time to answer questions afterward. “We will do a town hall meeting in April which will feature a Q and A session,” he said.

Seating for the event is limited to 250 and 200 have already reserved. To RSVP a seat, visit http://www.chamberorganizer.com/members/evr/reg_event.php?orgcode=MACC&evid=2736959
