Last Saturday the Maricopa Dance Academy (MDA) performance groups appeared at the Phoenix Suns pre-game show. Approximately 30 dancers from MDA performed in front of the crowd to “Beat It/Fly on a Wall.”

“The girls did a terrific job. I am so proud of them,” said Elizabeth Fujimoto, owner of MDA. “We hope to be able to perform there (at the Suns game) every year.”

Many parents of the girls attended, and others from Maricopa also came to support the dancers. “We really appreciated the support of family and friends from the community. It was a great event,” said Fujimoto.

The MDA performance groups will perform next at the Salsa Festival on April 25 and have recently been invited to perform at a Phoenix Children’s Hospital fundraiser event May 16 at Costco in Tempe.

“We also just received word that we will be performing at Disneyland on May 30. We had to send an audition tape for Disney to review, and so we are very honored to have been selected to perform there,” said Fujimoto.

The MDA performance groups are sponsoring another fundraiser for their Disneyland trip; it will be held on Saturday, March 28, at the MDA studio. “We call it the Parents’ Night Out – Kids’ Dance Party. Come drop your kids off at the studio for $5 per child, and we will take care of them while you go out and have a date night until midnight,” explained Fujimoto.
