Two big, six-run, innings lifted the Maricopa High School baseball team to a 13-11 win over Chandler Valley Christian Friday night in the final home game of the season for MHS.

After the Trojans grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Maricopa responded with six in the bottom of the second.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Valley Christian slowly battled back to gain an 11-7 lead after plating three runs in the top of the sixth.

The Rams then unloaded for another six-run inning in the bottom half of the frame and held on for the victory.

Michael Ashe and Dallas Speer led the Rams’ 13-hit attack with three each.

Steven Kogutkiewicz and Jordan Gusse each drove in three, with Gusse picking up two hits, including a double. Jesus Orci-Vega also had a pair of hits.

The Rams, now 8-17, conclude their season at Desert Vista Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
