MHS football boosters schedule inaugural Kickoff Classic Charity Golf Tournament

The Maricopa High School Football Booster Club, composed of parents, faculty and concerned citizens, has set Saturday, August 11, for their first ever Kickoff Classic Charity Golf Tournament at The Duke in Rancho El Dorado.

A major source of funding for the football program, the event will raise money for helmets and pads, footballs, a blocking sled, an ice machine, video equipment, a washer and dryer for uniforms, upgrading the concession stand and away game meals, among other items.

Maricopa’s small farming community of five years ago is now a sprawling city of nearly 30,000 residents. High school enrollment has increased from 450 to 900 students in the last three years with an anticipated student population of 1,000 to 1,200 in the fall.

Unfortunately for student athletes and their programs, school funding doesn’t stretch far enough to include the rising costs of items needed for a successful football program. That’s where the booster club and the Kickoff Charity Golf Classic come in.

The tournament, a shotgun start and four-person scramble, will cost $75 per player, which includes a cart, fees, range balls and lunch.

Prizes will go to golfers with the longest putt, longest drive and those closest to the pin.
Three sponsorship levels are planned: Platinum Sponsors ($1,000 for four green fees and various advertising opportunities), Gold Sponsors ($750 for two green fees and advertising) and Silver Sponsors ($500).

In addition, all donations, either monetary or gifts-in-kind, will be appreciated. Non-monetary donations will be raffled off after the tourney.

“Please consider being part of our tournament,” said organizer Bill Clemans. “These student athletes are the future leaders of our community and need our help.”

Entry forms are due by July 27. For forms or further information, contact Clemans at (602) 540-8163 or via
