MHS Foreign Language students excel at ASU fair

Thirty-four students from Maricopa High School’s Spanish and German classes participated in the Arizona State University’s Foreign Language Fair on Feb. 21. Students had the opportunity to participate in cultural activities and compete against students from all over the greater Phoenix Valley in the categories of impromptu role play, poster presentations in the second language, recitation and drama plays.

The results for Spanish students included:
1st place in Spanish L1 Impromptu Role Play
*  Chandler Chang
*  Cymberly Gifford
*  Tylinn Noble
2nd place in Spanish L2 Impromptu Role Play
*  Lavon Cornick
*  Andre Ayala

German Students results included:
1st place in German Novice Recitation
*  Porter Jones

“A huge thank you to Ms. Shoup for collaborating with the Foreign Language Department and helping students find resources available at the library,” Spanish instructor Victoria Moreno said. Looking forward to upcoming events she also stated, “We may have more great news later on.”
