Middle school student contracts MRSA

The Maricopa Unified School District has confirmed a third case of MRSA within the district. The infected middle school student is being treated and is out of school recovering.

The district’s director of nursing requested that all hard surfaces be cleaned and sanitized in the areas frequented by the student.

MRSA is a contagious type of staph infection and district administration is asking employees, students, parents and community members to familiarize themselves with the symptoms and preventative steps for combating it.
