Maricopans craving margaritas and sit-down Mexican fare will have to wait until early next year.

Nando’s Mexican Café confirmed Wednesday it will push its long-anticipated opening back a couple months due to construction delays.

“We finally got the building turned over to us last week,” said Nando’s Director of Operations Marijka Anderson. “The owners are saying they think we’ll be open early February at the latest.”

Over the summer, the restaurant was hopeful for a November opening but construction snafus halted those plans.

Anderson said the restaurant is finally starting interior work and hiring will begin about six weeks prior to ribbon cutting.

Despite the scheduling hamper, Anderson said the restaurant “looks forward to serving the Maricopa community.”
