Orbitel upgrades Internet speeds

Orbitel Communications just moved into the fastlane. The company has launched a new 20-megabit download, two-megabit upload Internet service, doubling the company’s previously highest speeds.

“People have different needs when it comes to Internet speeds,” said Orbitel Chief Executive Officer Keith Kirkman.” The new 20-megabit speed is ideal for downloading video, watching television over the Internet, video conferencing and interactive gaming.”

Orbitel’s new high-speed Internet service is possible because of the activation of a Fiber Ethernet Automatic Protected Service that was completed this summer.

The company does not tap into other provider’s lines to provide service to their customers, but instead on a fully independent self-healing fiber interconnect into the Phoenix metro area.

“This interconnection gives Orbitel the capacity to provide customers speeds never seen before in Maricopa,” said Jerome Erickson, vice president of engineering and technical services for Orbitel.

Pricing on the new Internet service is $54.95 per month and available to all customers within the company’s service area.

“Unlike Qwest, we don’t require customers to sign long-term contracts or bundle services to get an outstanding value on high speed Internet,” Kirkman said.
