Papago Park trip offers landscape photo opportunities

You probably have a landscape painting or reproduction hanging on the wall in your home. So, why not learn to take great landscape photos yourself of something you’ve actually seen? Jake Johnson Pictures is providing that opportunity for local residents.

“After completing our summer session of the Picture Perfect photo course, I had several students who expressed a desire to get outside and learn how to shoot some pretty landscapes. One of my favorite local terrains is Papago Park in the Tempe area. So we planned a photo field trip.”

As a class students will venture around the rock formations, lakes and trails, capturing all types of shots in this unique environment. Johnson will give a review of manual exposure variables to assure students shoot the best pictures possible.

“Adding humanity to landscapes can make for great pictures, and I will direct the class on different methods to photograph people within a landscape as well. As the sun sets the light on the various red rock formations is sensational, and together we will produce memorable photographs of this scenic location.”

Johnson encourages interested individuals to invite a spouse, significant other, friend and even a pet to come along and provide students with valuable subject matter at the park. According to Johnson, there will be plenty of time for one-on-one instruction, shots with classmates or just personal discovery between students and their camera.
