Maricopa continues to struggle with turnovers and easy shots which Coach Jenn Miller said cost them the game.

“If we had even made half of the easy shots we should have, we would have won,” Miller said.

Fountain Hills took an early lead and never relinquished it. The Rams stayed within three points at the end of the first quarter, but would not get that close to taking the lead the rest of the game. At the half, Maricopa was down 11 points at 37-26.

Miller also noted that, as with every game this season, it came down to who wanted the win more.

“We are a young team, and young teams make mistakes, but this late in the season nobody should make those mistakes,” Miller said.

The loss dropped the Rams to 4-6 in league play and might have taken them out of contention for the state championship. With just four games left in the season the Rams are five games behind Globe who is in first.

Next, Maricopa heads to Globe on Friday. In their last meeting Globe beat the Rams 88-44.
