A high-speed pursuit in Stanfield Tuesday ended in the seizure of several high-powered rifles and ammunition.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., a Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol saw a blue Chrysler sedan commit a traffic violation at the intersection of North Anderson and West Kortsen roads.

After initiating his emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled from the deputy at a high rate of speed. Within minutes, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop at Golden Hills Drive at which point the deputy observed two Hispanic male subjects flee on foot into the desert. A search of the vehicle turned up three AK-47 rifles and a substantial amount of ammunition.
