Photographers teaming up to help cancer patient, family

Two local photographers are holding a fundraiser, called Photos for Healing, to help a local woman and her out-of-state mother.

Beth Russell and Dawniele Castellanos have teamed up for a day of mini photography sessions on July 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. to benefit Diana Hester, who is the mother of Maricopa resident Holly Lyons.

Hester winters in Casa Grande to enjoy the sunny weather and be close to her daughter and grandchildren. Three weeks after returning from Arizona to her home in Oregon this year she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and underwent surgery immediately. She is now in treatment for cancer.

Lyons has lived in Maricopa since its growth surge and is active with the Calvary Chapel and her children’s sports. This is an especially stressful time for Lyons and her children, as they are traveling frequently to Oregon to help care for Hester.

For a suggested donation of $40 to $45, the photographers are offering three to five professionally edited high-resolution portraits with a copyright release.

They also have a cosmetologist who is offering complementary eyebrow waxing to anyone who reserves a session with a donation ahead of time. Eyebrow waxing will be done on the Sunday or Monday prior to the photo session, so there won’t be any redness when the photos are shot. Reservations need to be made ahead of time for this free service.

To reserve a session or for more information, call Russell at 480-768-7451 or email [email protected].
