Maricopa Fire and Medical Department responded to a reported gas leak at Stagestop Marketplace this morning.

Just before noon, employees evacuated the building at 44301 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. Fire crews quickly discovered the gas leak was a false alarm.

“Nobody was injured, no firefighters injured, and we had zero readings of gas inside,” Battalion Chief Nathan Maxcy said. “We got nothing, no emergency.”

Southwest Gas and crews from Goodyear Fire Department also responded.
